The house in the trees

Valhalla is in Catherineberg, in the trees above Cinnamon Bay. The sand is a short drive down. This is what that gives a family of 10 to 16.

I. Where the house sits

The sand A short drive down to Cinnamon Bay. Maho is the next beach east. Cruz Bay is about 15 to 20 minutes. You walk out to that beach. The shoreline in front of it stays public.
The group Two pools, a slide, a hot tub, and a terrace table for 10, on the house. The park beaches are open to everyone on the sand.

II. The shoreline stays public

A gate on a beach house does not close the shore. Virgin Islands law keeps the shoreline open: from the low-tide line inland 50 feet, or to the line of vegetation, or to a natural barrier, whichever is shorter.

Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, and Maho Bay are national park beaches on top of that. People walk them. The pools, the slide, and the hot tub at Valhalla are on the house, for your group. From the terraces you look down into Cinnamon Bay and out across the water toward Jost Van Dyke.

III. Room for the whole group

  • The terrace: An outdoor kitchen and a table that seats 10. The indoor table seats 10 as well, beside the stone fireplace.
  • The bunk room: Stone, with bunk alcoves for the kids and teens. The five king suites each have a bathroom and air conditioning.
  • The office: Air-conditioned, and separate from the living rooms.

IV. The drive down

Cinnamon Bay is the beach below the house. Maho Bay is the next beach east, the shallow one. Cruz Bay, with the markets and the restaurants, is about 15 to 20 minutes west on North Shore Road. You can use more than one beach in a day.

The beaches and the walks are on the North Shore page.
