Stocking the house in St. John
Valhalla is above Cinnamon Bay, a drive from the shops in Cruz Bay. The kitchen can feed the house. A private chef is not in the lodging rate. Order the groceries before you land, or plan the drive down.
I. The kitchen
One group has the house. The indoor table seats 10. The terrace table seats 10. The house sleeps 16, and it fits best for 10 to 14.

II. Where to shop
Specialty items are easier to order than to hunt for on arrival day. Starfish Market delivers an order placed ahead.

III. A private chef
A private chef is an add-on. It is not part of the lodging rate. Send the dates, the headcount, the nights you want a cook, and any allergies. We write back with the house and what a chef would add.
IV. If you cook yourselves
- Order ahead: Cruz Bay is down the hill. A first-night shop after a late ferry is a long way to start the stay.
- Ice: Starfish sells bags. Grab them on the way back from the beach.
- After dark: Donkeys and deer come up to houses on St. John. Close the food. Do not leave a platter out on the terrace overnight.
The way onto the island is St. Thomas (STT) to Cruz Bay.

Where do you buy groceries for Valhalla?
Starfish Market is in The Marketplace in Cruz Bay, 340-779-4949, open every day 7 AM to 9 PM. They deliver an order placed ahead. Dolphin Market has shops in Cruz Bay, Chocolate Hole, and Coral Bay. St. John Provisions in Cruz Bay is the morning stop for pastries, coffee, and sandwiches.
Is a private chef included at Valhalla?
No. A private chef is not part of the lodging rate. The kitchen is a Viking and SKS setup, with a round table for 10 inside and a terrace table for 10 outside. Ask for a chef when you send the dates, and include allergies.
Can you shop after you land?
You can. Cruz Bay is a drive down from Catherineberg. Order from Starfish before you arrive if you want the kitchen stocked. Bring anything hard to find in a carry-on.
